What you can expect from the course
Conflict is an unavoidable part of life, but it is the way the conflict is dealt with that determines the outcomes for
individuals.
This three day programme delivers the skills of peer
mediation in a fun environment with activities that develop the skills of affirmation, effective listening and
communication skills and cooperation, all of which are needed for mediation.
Aims of Teaching Mediation in Schools
- To develop social skills for pupils and staff in dealing with conflict in a more positive way
- To create a calm, cooperative classroom atmosphere
- To affirm pupils and raise their self esteem
- To give pupils alternatives to bullying and violence
- To create understanding and awareness of others
- To give pupils ownership of their resolution of disputes
- To enhance learning through creating a safer, more positive environment.
Evaluation
Delegates are invited to evaluate each day of the course via group and individual evaluation
